Literature Summary:  This table is a summary of the Fujinon large format lens literature I have at this time (April 6, 2000).  I have not had a chance to scan everything listed in the table yet, but eventually scans of all these items will be available at this site.

About the Table:  A check mark (ü) indicates that a particular lens model was listed in that reference with no mention of multicoating (so assume single coating).   An EBC indicates that particular model was specifically listed as EBC multicoated in the reference cited.

This table makes it possible to track approximately when some models were introduced and discontinued.  It is also possible to determine approximately when certain models were first offered with EBC multicoatings. For example, a friend of mine has a 360mm f10 Fujinon A.  It is single coated and in a Copal S style shutter.  By looking at the table below, it is possible to determine that this model was introduced sometime between January, 1979 and August 15, 1979 and began coming with EBC multicoatings prior to April, 1981.  This establishes upper and lower bounds for when this lens could have been produced (sometime after January 1979, but before April 1981).   Of course, the table alone isn't perfect for dating specific lenses.  Some models have remained unchanged for very long periods.  For example, the entire SWD line is listed as EBC multicoated for the entire period the table spans (April, 1978 - March 1997), so it won't help date any lenses of the SWD variety.  Eventually, it is hoped that the Serial Number Table on the previous page will provide enough information to help date lenses in such cases.  This table is far from complete.  As you can see, I have a fairly good assortment of literature from April, 1978 - July, 1982, but lack older reference materials and also official Fujinon brochures from the years 1983 - 1996.  If you have any materials you'd care to contribute, please contact me via email and let me know what you've got.  By working together, hopefully this table will continue to grow and become even more useful.

General - This table is a summary of the Fujinon large format lens literature I have collected.  There are a few discrepancies, usually involving differences in availability between the manufacturer's promotional brochures and the price lists.   Certain lenses occasionally continue to appear in the price lists long after they are no longer listed in the Fujinon promotional materials.  I suspect this is a case of the manufacturer halting production, but the distributor/retailers continuing to sell from existing stock.  Other discrepancies appear to be the results of errors, possibly due to miscommunication between the manufacturer and distributor (for example, products that show up in the distributor's price list, but that are never listed in the manufacturer's promotional brochures).

¹  This is likely a case of miscommunication between the manufacturer and distributor.  The March 1, 1980 D.O. Industries Price List lists the SW series (65mm f8, 75mm f8, 90mm f8, 120mm f8) as single coated.  It also lists and NSW series of EBC multicoated lenses in 90mm f8, 120mm f8 and 300mm f8.  The NSW series is not mentioned in the Fujinon literature until nearly 2½ years later (July, 1982), and the focal lengths available are 90mm f8, 105mm f8 and 125mm f8.  Also, in the Fujinon brochures, the 90mm SW f8 continues to be listed as single coated through March, 1982 and there is no mention of the 120mm f8 SW after January 1979 or of the 300mm f8 SW after April, 1978.  So, either these lenses were never available with EBC multicoating, or Fuji made them special order for D.O. Industries and never listed them in their own promotional brochures.   Obviously, latter 90mm F8 NSW samples were available with EBC multicoating, but if you have a 120mm f8 SW or 300mm f8 SW that is multicoated, please send me email so I can update this section accordingly.

² The N prefix has been dropped and the name of this line has reverted back to SW.  This was only a change in the naming convention used in the Fujinon literature, and does not reflect any design changes.

³ This appears to be another case of miscommunication between the manufacturer and distributor.  The D.O. Industries Price List from March 1, 1980 is the ONLY reference to NW series lenses in the 250mm f6.7, 300mm f5.6 and 360mm f6.3 styles.  All other literature at that time, and for several years after (including the D.O. Industries Price List from March 2, 1988) list the 300mm and 360mm as EBC W series (not NW).  Also, the 250mm f6.7 W seems to have been briefly discontinued, but brought back by popular demand (probably due to greater coverage than the 250mm f6.3 NW).  However, in all other literature, it continues to be listed as single coated through at least March 2, 1988.  It does not appear that this model was ever offered with EBC multicoating.  If you have evidence otherwise, please email me the information.

⁴ These two models (180mm f9 A and 240mm f9 A) are also listed as available in single coated versions.

⁵ These two models (300mm f9 A and 360mm f10 A) were omitted from the July, 1982 Fujinon Lenses for Professionals, but were listed separately on an attached sheet labeled: EBC Fujinon AS (Additions).  So, it appears Fujinon had planned to discontinue these two models, but had a change of heart.  Both models continued to be available through retailers until at least January 1991 (at least they were still listed in a B&H ad at that time).
